La Tribu de Jesus Orphanage Trip DetailsMEETUP TIME: 8:30am (sign-in/registration/packing/carpool assignments/devotion). WHERE TO MEET: Look for the parking lot near the grass and bathroom behind Liberty Station towards the back of Crown Ace Hardware2750 Dewey RoadSan Diego, CA 92106DEPARTURE TIME: 9:15am (caravan to the border where we receive parking passes). Then we walk across to taxis waiting for us on the other side of the border.COST: $40 per person.
This covers parking passes before the border, taxi transportation in TJ, food for the kids and our lunch, overhead for the ministry, and love offering for the orphanage. We accept cash payment at registration or online at http://www.unity4orphans.com/WHAT TO BRING: Passport and/or driver's license. Also, a small personal backpack (for your water bottle/power bar/other dietary needs), a hat, modest clothing, a good attitude and flexible spirit. Luggage with wheels we can use for the day to wheel "in-kind" donations or food/toys/activities for our children.

WHAT WE WILL DO: It is vital that our volunteers connect one-on-one with the kids in crafts, story time, relay games, free play, lunch and during ESL class.

ABOUT JESUS TRIBE ORPHANAGE: Our regular visits take us to this orphanage located approximately fifteen miles south of the Otay Mesa Border in La Gloria, east of Rosarito. It is situated in the midst of a very impoverished community.
Led by Edith and her husband with Benito (the boys' cook and live-in caretaker), this orphanage lovingly houses approximately 60+ children currently, ranging from 2-18 years old, placed there due to parents' inability to provide for them or by local social workers due to abandonment and abuse. I have been getting to know the Orphan home children and workers for just over a year and have fallen in love with them.
THE NEED: They literally have zero government financial help or other consistent financial supporters. NO RUNNING WATER CURRENTLY. Some of the various ways we help them is by having consistent trips where our monies, physical donations, and physical presence encourages them that they are not alone and that they are loved.
