Jesus Tribe Orphanage is led by Edith, her husband and Benito, the boys' cook and live-in caretaker. Located in La Gloria, east of Rosarito ~15 miles south of Otay Mesa Border. Approximately 80+ children currently reside here ranging from 2-18 years old. Two separate housing -- White House for girls and small children and Rancho House (down the hill) for boys. Working on building playground. Dirt floor. Currently working on having consistent running water. Zero government help. Very vulnerable.
SERVICE TRIP BASIC DETAILS
DURATION OF SERVICE TRIP: 830am-6pm (must stay for the duration of the trip)
MEETUP LOCATION: Crown Ace Hardware. 2750 Dewey Road, San Diego 92106
Look for parking lot near the grass/bathrooms behind Liberty Stations towards the back.
COST: $40 (student/child under 12 is $20) covers parking passes before the border, taxi transportation in TJ, food for the kids and our lunch, overhead for the ministry, and love offering for the orphanage. We accept cash/check payment at registration or online at http://www.unity4orphans.com/
MUST BRING: Passport and/or driver's license. Ok if driver's license only (bring copy of birth certificate just in case).
We highly suggest the following for a great day:
* eat breakfast
* bring your own hydration method (water bottle)
* bring your own snacks/dietary restrictions etc
* wear modest clothing
* kind, forgiving hearts of service
* connect with a child or two, give them one-on-one attention through different activities

SAMPLE ITINERARY (all times subject to change)
830am: REGISTRATION/VOLUNTEER SIGN-IN
Fill out forms, provide $40 as needed. Fill out donation receipts. All volunteers help organize all goods into bags/vans. Powwow with Joe Brandi for devotions/prayer/trip logistics. Bathroom break. Volunteers will load up onto personal cars/carpool to drive to Otay Mesa parking lot to park.
CARAVAN to Otay Mesa Parking Lot
Directions: 5-South, exit 905 East, keep going and exit Siempra Viva Rd. (loop), turn right on Via de la Amistad/Roll drive, turn into 2nd driveway on your left (directly across the street from IHOP).
PARK ALL CARS
Joe purchases parking passes to distribute to volunteers. If only absolutely necessary, please use bathrooms here but PLEASE REFRAIN FROM PURCHASING FROM BUSINESSES (it delays all volunteers from going across the border in a timely manner).
TO JESUS TRIBE ITINERARY
ARRIVE at Jesus Tribe Orphanage “White House” (girls’/little kids’ house)
SET UP all 6-7 folding tables and chairs in court yard. Unload all kitchen and food items into kitchen on bottom floor. Unload all toiletries onto table in hallway. Write and give each child a name tag. Set up all tables with crafts and/or games. Make sure wipes/trash bags available for each table. Set up water bottles for kids and volunteer consumption on table outside. Ensure Spanish speaker present at each station.
MOST NEEDED: Male Spanish speakers needed to work/play with teen boys at the Rancho House at the bottom of the hill.
HOUSEHOLD HELP: Help fold clothes. Clean upstairs bathrooms. Help serve food/move food from kitchen at bottom to courtyard lunch tables.
130PM LUNCH PREP: Teaching Moment
THIS IS IMPORTANT FOR POSITIVE DISCIPLINE: All kids at each table are expected to do the following before lunch can be served and before they can do/play another craft/game after lunch: All trash thrown away + hands washed (with wipes). Pack up/put away all crafts and/or games!
230PM: CLEAN UP/PREP TO LEAVE
All trash needs to be thrown away. Load empty luggage into vans.
