Distance: 7.6 miles

Hiking Time 4 hours approximately

Dogs Allowed, Good for Kids

Weather: Hike will be canceled if it rains.

What to bring: Good hiking/tennis shoes, comfortable clothes, cell phone, water/vitamin water, and snacks.

Directions:

-From interstate 15 at Ninth Avenue in Escondido. Turn west and proceed 0.2 miles.

-Turn left here, so as to remain on Ninth (Auto Park Way continues straight ahead).

-Continue 0.6 mile west on Ninth to a forced left turn onto Hale Avenue.

-Go 0.3 mile south on Hale, and turn right on Harmony Grove Road.

-Go 0.3 mile west and turn sharply left to remain on Harmony Grove Road.

-After another 0.4 mile you must turn left again to remain on Harmony Grove Road, which becomes a rural byway at this point.

-Continue for 3 miles to the Elfin Forest Reserve entrance on the left, near mile-marker 6 on Harmony Grove Road.
