INFORMATION ABOUT OTHER DONATIONS:

Each trip has a featured or requested donation item, as asked for by the Orphanage Director. It is listed above. Sports equipment (used or new), blankets, first aid items, toiletries/hygiene items, and socks are also always appreciated.

Reminder - No candy or treats are allowed without prior approval from U40.

Due to Mexican laws, we DO NOT ACCEPT:

* Used clothing, shoes, and toys.

* There are a few exceptions, however, if arrangements are made in advance. We will accept gently used children's jeans, jackets and sports equipment.

* Many people also ask about books: We can accept books if they are written in Spanish, and children's books in English if they are "learn to read" style kindergarten/first grade level books (as these can be used to teach English).

--Larger donations for the home, or Adopt-A-Projects can be also be arranged upon request.

Contact us for a complete list of the current project needs at the orphanage; Many which are great for local church groups, businesses and families to adopt.

Trip Cancellation Policy:

Please notify us at least 72 hours in advance if you need to cancel for any reason. We pre-arrange all transportation and catering costs (which is a per person charge), and our activities and treats for the kids are based on how many people are coming and contributing. Also, often our trips have waiting lists, and we can fill your spot with another dedicated volunteers.

If you have to cancel less than 72 hours in advance, we request that you make a donation for the travel fee amount to cover the loss we incur on your transportation and lunch. Fincancial losses negatively affect our ability to help cover monthly water and rent expenses at the orphanage.

ABOUT THE ORPHANAGE:

La Tribu de Jesus Orphanage (Jesus Tribe) is located in La Gloria, east of Rosarito; 15 miles south of Otay Mesa Border. Approximately 75-80 children and young adults are currently being cared for there, ranging from 2 months - 19 years old. There are two homes on the property. The "White House" (main house) is where all girls and small children live, and the "Rancho House" is where the older boys reside. Jesus Tribe is run by Edith Palomino and a small staff of non-paid volunteers, who in return for their service, are also provided shelter for themselves and their own children. While Edith manages the entire orphan home, the teen boys' home is overseen by Benito, who serves as their live-in caretaker and cook.

Special Note: The conditions at this orphanage are very primitive with intermittent running and drinking water, poor plumbing issues, dirt grounds, lack of reliable transportation, low food supplies, with very few resources etc. They are in a highly vulnerable situation, and receive no government help or aid, and little support from other U.S. churches or groups. Much of their support comes from the U40 Community, so our consistent giving and visits are necessary for the welfare of these children.
