Homeless Ministry Orange Picking

In an effort to feed those less fortunate, the Homeless Ministry has an opportunity to pick oranges and feed them to others. All these oranges will be distributed during our Bread of Life outreach and some saved for our Church Without Walls outreach. Oranges provide such great nutrition, they are easy on the teeth, and our neighbors love them. Hope to meet some of you soon.
We have got a few volunteers and are looking to get as many as we can. We have been asked to help pick oranges in Escondido this Saturday AUGUST 1, FROM 8 A.M. TO 2 P.M. (You don't have to be there the whole time). In addition to the generous offer of the oranges themselves, these hours will be added to the community service for the Rock Church.
Please RSVP back to me dannydv8@gmail.com so we can have a fairly accurate body count.
Please take note of the following and read very carefully:
Wear: long sleeves, hats, sunscreen, and gloves.
Bring: Lots of boxes, very stable ladders, sack lunch, and plenty of drinks.
When: Saturday, August 1, 2009, 8:00am-2:00pm
What: Picking as many oranges as possible
Where: 2945 Verda Ave.Escondido, CA 92025 (southern Escondido)
Why: To serve the homeless and needy children
The owners of the grove have kindly offered to allow our volunteers to use their restroom.
Directions:
Take I-15 North to Centre City Parkway. Exit Centre City and proceed north to the first light, Citracado and turn right. Continue 2 blocks to Cranston and turn right. Cranston turns into Verda Ave. Stay on Verda as it curves around to 2945 Verda Ave on the right.
It's almost 30 miles from the Rock Church and mostly freeway driving. Maybe someone would like to organize a carpool.
PLEASE bring extra boxes if you have them.
