The Country

Belize is an incredibly beautiful country offering everything from exotic jungles and ancient Mayan ruins to world renowned beaches and diving sites; all painting the picture-perfect image of paradise.

San Pedro, Ambergris Caye is a top tourist destination known for its beauty and the alluring island lifestyle it offers.  Like the rest of Belize, it is a melting pot of different ethnic groups and religions that create a distinct and fascinating culture.  However, despite the interest San Pedro receives from travelers, forgotten children remain in the shadows starving for attention.

The Need

Underneath the extreme beauty and intriguing culture of Belize, lies a hurting and spiritually dark nation with a deluge in illegal drugs, false religions and broken families. 

Belize plays a crucial role in trafficking drugs between Central and South America and it has long taken a negative toll on the society.  The children are affected the most as many are raised in broken homes (often with imprisoned parents) and suffer from unwanted teen pregnancies and the oppression of abuse and neglect.

With witchcraft, voodoo, and black magic in common practice, 9 major religious groups, and a works-oriented philosophy of salvation, Belize is a very spiritually dark country.  These false religions are what lie at the core of the country’s issues, causing side effects that largely victimize the children.  

The Plan

This Christmas, we invite you to come celebrate the birth of our Savior by answering the call He has given us all…to love.  Each morning we will reach out to the children through soccer and other fun activities where we will get the opportunity to show them the love and attention they so desperately need.  In the afternoon there will be VBS with a Biblical lesson, crafts, music, and snacks followed by plenty of games and one-on-one time with the little ones.  Finally, we will have a New Year’s Day festival with carnival type games, prizes, giveaways and most importantly a Christ-centered environment for the kids to begin 2012.
