About

April 7th, 2012

A few years ago one of the leaders read an article about several hundred cyclists riding in silence for a 'fallen' bike rider. That rider was killed by a car - the riders wanted to bring awareness to his death. The reaction was tremendous and has been repeated for fallen riders throughout the US. Why not do the same for Jesus!?

On April 7th, RockMTB and several other partnering churches will join us at the Mission Beach Boardwalk to RIDE IN SILENCE FOR JESUS! The first year over 125 people rode in silence for Jesus with Fox News on location. The wonder, shock and comments from the other people (on the boardwalk) were amazing. Many riders spoke afterwards of being deeply moved by our Lord's presence while riding in awe and reverence for his sacrifice to us.

We picked this day intentionally. April 6th is Good Friday, the day or Lord was crucified for our sins. April 8th is Easter, the day our Lord rose from the dead, breaking the veil of death granting us eternal life through the shedding of his innocent blood. What a fantastic day to join with family, friends, and fellow brothers in Christ to ride for him.

The ride is EASY - everyone can go! It is all on the Mission Bay Boardwalk with ZERO elevation. We ride for 3.5 miles to Crown Point, have a devotional and then ride back - all in silence. We will have flyers to pass out for people asking what we represent.

I personally would love to see this grow nationally! Critical mass will make this a 'human interest' story. We'd LOVE to see 'Silent Rides for Jesus' taking place throughout the United States annually! How can this happen? Two ways. Prayer AND you! Attached is a flyer. Please print it and hand it out to as many people as you can. At trailheads, put it on windshields. Distribute them to your church, groups and bike stores. Pass them to everyone you know. Also, please try to get this ride posted in your church bulletin. Only one third of the people that are in RockMTB come from the Rock Church! Many of you are from other churches! Please get involved and help us make this a national event. However, the most important aspect is prayer!!! The last two years it rained, understandably reducing turnout. Please pray for good weather and for Jesus to use this event to glorify him in a MIGHTY way we cannot envision!

This is understandably our biggest event of the year! Mark your calendars and bring your entire family. The pace will be very slow and every age, group, bike rider (mountain, road, cruiser, unicycle, skateboard, roller-blader) can go! We will be back around 10:30 leaving the rest of the day wide open. God bless you guys!
