Leave it to Cleave Her - Part 3
Miles McPherson - February 1, 2004

Message Recap

Two weeks ago Miles began a series titled Leave it to Cleave Her. This week miles ended that series with a message on sexual purity and same-sex relations.

Condemned or Condoned

Hitting on homosexuality Miles expressed that there are usually three groups of people sharing viewpoints around this subject. These are:

  • Homosexuals who know that they are wrong and want to repent

If this is you then the church wants to help. God loves and cares for you but He wants you to give up your sin and repent. It says in Luke 19:10 for the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost. If you are willing to repent and live correctly then God will gladly welcome you into His kingdom with open arms.
  • Homosexuals that believe their activities are acceptable to the Lord

Our nation is famous for free speech. Each individual seems to want to be heard for his or her cause. In certain areas, same-sex marriage is even beginning to be recognized as acceptable by law. In some instances gays feel that God blesses those who want to partake in same-sex relations.

In Leviticus 20:13 where it states: If a man lies with a male as he lies with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination. Even though homosexuals may want their behavior to be acknowledged as acceptable, the Bible is very explicit in defining same-sex relations as not being part of God's will for His people.
  • Christians who ponder whether or not God says that homosexual activity is wrong.

Ignorance is not bliss. Instead, it becomes our worst enemy when we need to defend the word of God. The Bible is very expressive on the subject of sexual immorality and even defines homosexual relations. It is important for us to read and allow the Bible to impact our hearts so that our defenses do not fail us when we need to encourage someone who may not be living a godly lifestyle.

Blessed Union

There are many more advantages in living God's way than disadvantages when seeking relationships. When Christ died for us he made a covenant through the blood of the cross. Colossians 1:20 When we participate in relationships according to the will of God a union takes place that portrays a blood covenant. As God's word reveals in Genesis 2:24 and they shall become one flesh.

Safe Sex

It is easy to get off track when society is so accepting of sexual immorality. Regardless of what the government sets as standards for America's people as Christians we need to remain diligent in striving to live our lives the way that God intended. We can do this most effectively by following His laws and honoring His word. We must make this choice to follow Him whole-heartedly because the Bible says that no one can serve two masters. Matthew 6:24

There are many harmful possible outcomes if we choose to disobey God and join in sexual relations outside of marriage. When breaking the rules we jeopardize ourselves emotionally, mentally, physically, socially, and spiritually. Obedience to the Lord covers us with His love and offers the protection from harm and danger that society cannot.
