Life Without Limbs - Nick Vujicic
Nick Vujicic - August 16, 2009

Message Recap

This Sunday, the Rock was honored to have a visiting speaker from Australia. If you missed it, you're sure to be encouraged by Nick, so check this one out online!

A Note from Nick:
My name is Nick Vujicic and I'm 26 years old. I was born without arms or legs and given no medical reason for this condition. Faced with countless challenges and obstacles, God has given me the strength to surmount what others might call impossible. Along with that, the Lord has placed within me an unquenchable passion to share this same hope and genuine love that I've personally experienced with more than two million people all over the globe.

Miracles

Nick began his message by sharing his early faith struggles. He grew up hearing the gospel and he had faith, but wondered: where is my miracle?

"I am the richest man on earth; I know who my God is and I have received the greatest miracle of all - forgiveness." ~ Nick V

He has since experienced some. God did not miraculously give Nick arms and legs, but He did miraculously heal him from a degenerative spine disease that was set to crumble his spine in a matter of years. And now Nick says, "I am the richest man on earth; I know who my God is and I have received the greatest miracle of all - forgiveness."

God never fails and His mercies are new every day. Trust the One who never fails!

Lies, Pain and Fear

God says in the Bible that He loves you and has good purposes for your life.

For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11

Nick shared that he had a hard time believing that truth - that God had a hope and future for him. Opposite whatever truth the Bible gives, Satan is always around to throw his lies at you. He wants you to feel alone and afraid. Fear is the biggest disability of all and will paralyze you even more than being in a wheelchair.

Satan says, "God doesn't have a plan for you. God's forgotten about you. No one cares for you. You'll never _____, so you may as well give up now. There's no hope for you." He lies to school kids, telling them, "If you're not part of a group, you're a nobody. If you don't swear, you're not cool. If you don't drink, you're weird." But it's all lies, and only the truth will set you free.

When the world says you're not good enough, get a second opinion. The world will tell you you're a failure, but God says, "I'm proud of you. I love you. I created you and I have an amazing legacy just for you."

As Paul writes in Philippians 4:13, I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Just look at Nick - even without physical limbs, through Christ he is the hands and feet of God. He stands in front of the gates of hell and redirects traffic!

Jesus Paid the Price

We all know what evil is; we can feel it whenever we do something wrong. Temporary pleasures are just that - temporary. Jesus was the only man who had no sin and He paid the price for all of our sins. When you know and follow Jesus, this earth and its pain are only temporary; He has heaven waiting for you for all eternity!

Don't find your happiness in temporary or earthly things. As Nick puts it, God's wine always tastes better than Satan's wine!

The Price of Faith

Are you ready to let God move? When you put a "g-o" in front of "disabled," it spells "God is abled!"

Do you come from a broken home? God can use you to encourage someone who has no father. Have you experienced an eating disorder? God can use you to show a young girl that she is beautiful, worthy, and loved just the way she is. Whatever your pain or struggle, God can use you to make a difference in someone's life. And as one girl put it, "Saving one soul is infinitely valuable."

Whatever your pain or struggle, God can use you to make a difference in someone's life.

God will someday see you face to face and ask you, "Do you know me?" and "Who'd you bring?"

The Call

Jesus says, "Behold I stand at the door and knock." (Revelation 3:20) When will you get up off your seat and answer the door?

Though he had never had such a clear message from God before, Nick was obedient to the message he had received from God to pray during this service, inviting anyone who was involved (or formerly involved) in gangs to come forward, lay down their weapons, and surrender their lives to Christ. After the invitation, several people came forward for a powerful and moving beginning of new life in Christ! Amen!
