What if...? is a sermon series designed to empower you to pray into reality, “Thy kingdom come on earth as it is in heaven.” Matthew 6:9-10
Kingdom of God: An environment, place, or state that is in agreement with the will of God
Do you ever wonder how life would be if…
…you exercised every day like you should?
…you really studied well when you were supposed to?
…you read the Bible every day and prayed every day to hear from God?
…you removed yourself from the sphere of drama around you?
…you had someone to consistently invest in your life spiritually?
…you knew exactly what God wanted you to do…and you did it?
…you removed exposure to garbage media and focused on edifying media?
…you cut out gossip from your life?
…you forgave and loved people the way God wants you to?
…you tithed regularly and served wherever God asked you to serve?
…you were only motivated by pleasing God, instead of man?
During this series, we will explore the possibilities of praying for God’s will to be done on earth and really meaning it.
As you walk with God, you should be experiencing more of Him, becoming more and more Christlike over time.
As you walk with God, you should be experiencing more of Him, becoming more and more Christlike over time. In Paul’s words, you must “press on” to become more of the person that God created you to be (Philippians 3).
Just imagine what would happen if corporately, the Rock Church prayed for God’s kingdom to come and His will to be done and we seriously meant it. While Pastor Miles made a disclaimer that he can’t make predictions about the future, he does believe in God’s promises and truly believes that if we committed to seeking God’s will during this series, God would show up in an incredible way.
Are you willing to see it through? Come to church every week, on time, bring your Bible, pray, get involved in a Small Group? God can do a miracle in your life – something that you could never do on your own.
In every area of life (marriage, jobs, family, friends, ministry, finance, etc.), we need to seek for God’s will to be done. If we ask for God’s kingdom to come, that means we want Him to have dominion or control over every area, that when people experience time with us, they have a glimpse at God’s love, compassion, thoughts, words, etc.
If we know the One to whom we pray and we pray according to His will, who can stop it?
“When you pray, don’t be like the hypocrites who love to pray publicly on street corners and in the synagogues where everyone can see them. I tell you the truth, that is all the reward they will ever get. But when you pray, go away by yourself, shut the door behind you, and pray to your Father in private. Then your Father, who sees everything, will reward you.
“When you pray, don’t babble on and on as people of other religions do. They think their prayers are answered merely by repeating their words again and again. Don’t be like them, for your Father knows exactly what you need even before you ask him! Pray like this:
Our Father in heaven,
may your name be kept holy.
May your Kingdom come soon.
May your will be done on earth,
as it is in heaven.
Give us today the food we need,
as we have forgiven those who sin against us.
And don’t let us yield to temptation,
but rescue us from the evil one. Matthew 6:5-13
What if we did everything to honor God and bring Him glory?
Pastor Miles issued a challenge to all of us today: imagine these “what ifs,” come every week of the series, practice listening to God’s still small voice, and pray for His kingdom to come. We can’t wait to see what God does!
