Dialed In - Part 3, Declare, Listen and Ask - Part 2
Mile McPherson - February 4, 2018

Message Recap

When you walk with God, He reveals himself to you over time. The longer you walk with God, the more your faith evolves, along with your ability to see, hear, and understand Him. He will reveal to you the truths that He has called you, He will bless you, and He will guide you to walk in power.

When you walk with God, He reveals himself to you over time.

Remember that coming to church is not equal to growth and transformation. Don’t come to church attempting to present the perfect version of yourself, but rather come ready to be vulnerable and transparent with God. No one is perfect! We need God to help us with our issues and we need one another for prayer, encouragement, and support.

God really wants to do something powerful in your life, but you have to walk with Him day by day and allow Him to come alongside you with authority.

1. “Dialed-in” prayer is joining the conversation that is already taking place in the spiritual world.

When we pray, we’re not initiating something in the heavens. We are just commencing our participation in what is already ongoing.

As a commitment to daily prayer, write down your

Join the conversation in heaven by declaring, listening, and asking in accordance with the conversation in progress.

Declaring the truth is of the utmost importance in your prayer life. You don’t need to make anything up! You’re not informing God about what he already knows - you’re reminding yourself about what is spiritually true.

2. Join God in His search for faithful men and women. 2 Chronicles 16:9

For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him. 2 Chronicles 16:9a

God searching for a loyal person through whom He can express His power. When we declare the truth, we can simply hitch on to that truth. Make your declarations strongly and firmly, not with a lukewarm heart.

I know that you are looking for faithful people.
I believe that you want to show yourself strong on my behalf.
I know that I cannot be the person you created me to be without your strength.

He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says. Revelation 2:7
Listen to the still, small voice of God. What is the Spirit saying based on what you have just declared?

Lord, as you look for someone to be strong, consider me.
Lord, please don’t look past me God. I want to be faithful today.
Lord, please give me your strength.

Church attendance isn’t enough to sustain you on a healthy walk with Christ. You also need to be in the Word and praying daily and you need the prayer, encouragement, challenge, and fellowship of other believers in a Small Group.

3. Join the conversation between God and Satan about your level of faithfulness. Revelation 12:10, Luke 22:31-32

Then I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, “Now salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren, who accused them before our God day and night, has been cast down. Revelation 12:10

All day and night the devil is saying to God about you the same types of things he said about Job. He calls you selfish, questions your motives, and doubts your loyalty to God. He also accuses us to one another and wants us to give voice to his accusations (or to speak death to others) via gossip and discouragement.

But when we focus on God and declare truth against the devil’s lies, we can speak life.

And the Lord said, “Simon, Simon! Indeed, Satan has asked for you, that he may sift you as wheat. But I have prayed for you, that your faith should not fail; and when you have returned to Me, strengthen your brethren.” Luke 22:31-32

I know that there are negative comments being made about me by the devil - accusations of deceit and pride, lust, and arrogance.
I know that there is an opportunity of adopting these comments myself.
I know that Satan is a liar and destroyer.

He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says. Revelation 2:7
What is the Spirit saying?_________________________________________________
What does God want you to know about the accusations of Satan? What does He want to say about the sin in your life?

I reject the thoughts and fear that Satan is using to paralyze me.
I know that you love me, believe in me, have great plans for me. Please reveal those to me.
Replace my self-criticism with your encouraging, advocating perspective.

Listening to God takes all of your attention because His voice is peaceable, soft, gentle. God doesn’t need Satan to tell Him about our sin - He already knows! He’s not out to get us, or He could have destroyed us anytime. He is after our hearts and in the business of making our lives impactful for His kingdom.

4. Join the conversation that Jesus and the Father are having about you. 1 John 2:1

My little children, these things I write to you, so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. 1 John 2:1

In Christ, we are seated at the right hand of the Father and Jesus is advocating for us day and night;

God is searching for loyal followers, the devil is accusing you, and Jesus is speaking up for you! (And we haven’t even touched on the activity of the Holy Spirit yet!)

Because this is happening all the time, at any time you can choose to tune in to the spiritual conversation of truth which declares your value, your righteous standing, and your authority in Christ.

If God is looking, we want to be found! If God wants to strengthen someone, we want to be strengthened! If Jesus is advocating for someone, we want him to advocate for us!

Even though Satan is accusing me, I also know that Jesus is advocating for me.
I know that when the Father sees me, He sees Jesus. He sees me as righteous.
Jesus, I know that you are presenting me as holy to the Father.
I believe that I have the righteousness of the Father.
I know that the plans God has for me are good, to give me a future and hope.

He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says. Revelation 2:7

Replace my self-criticism with the your encouraging, advocating perspective.
Reveal to me the words and prayers You, as my advocate, make on my behalf, so that I may pray those same prayers for myself.

When you speak self-criticism, you are actually parroting or copying the voice of the devil. For no other reason are you able to think horrible things about yourself? Those thoughts could never come from the Creator who made you with divine purpose and loves you so deeply that He sacrificed His only Son to save you.

When you are hearing and agreeing with the devil’s voice about yourself or others, you need to dial into God’s voice and get the truth into your heart and mind, for the mouth speaks out of the overflow of the heart (Luke 6:45).

As your prayer challenge this week, print this as a prayer guide so that you can DECLARE truth, LISTEN for God’s voice, and ASK according to the ongoing heavenly conversation. (Remember this is just a guide and you can feel free to change it as you like.)
