Special Needs Ministry

Thank you so much for your interest in our Special Needs class for Children's Ministry! We are blessed to have an amazing ministry at the Rock that recently expanded to having a classroom available during both the 10:00 and 12:00 services.  Our team of volunteers is great and includes masters-level special education teachers, speech therapists, behavior therapists, OTs, PTs and even a music therapist.  We also have volunteers who simply love to love our kiddos :)
 
Here are some features of our classroom.. we'd love to have you come by and check it out anytime!
 
-Specialized curriculum

  • designed to incorporate hands-on sensory activities
  • active learning achieved by keeping in mind each student's learning style

-Structured schedule/environment

  • play/social interaction with peers and teachers
  • circle time with music, memory Bible verses, and Bible lesson
  • 3 center rotations with arts, crafts, and sensory

-1:1 or 2:1 ratios

-Sensory activities and calming strategies in place for when needed

  • trampoline, bean bags, soft mats, 'quiet area', headphones, 'fidget' toys, etc.

-bathroom in the classroom (helps out tremendously!)

-Thursday night parent Bible study (every-other Thurs) with childcare provided
 
Our heart in this ministry is two-fold
1) we believe that ALL children can learn about and experience the love of Jesus
2) we believe that it is extremely important for parents to have the opportunity to attend church service without interruption or constant 'concern' for their child's safety or well-being within the children's ministry program.

Again, we'd love to have you stop by and check out the ministry!  Right now, our 12:00 service has more space, but we are available at either the 10:00 or 12:00 service!
