Volcan Mountain Hike & Apple Pie
Saturday, Nov. 23, 2019
Volcan Mountain Wilderness Preserve

Join the Hiking Ministry family from the Rock Church as we hike beautiful Volcan Mountain. It will be a fun time of fellowship while enjoying the beauty of God's creation! This hike will be 5.2 miles long, with an elevation gain of 1,200 feet. Altitude at the peak is 5,248 feet. Part of the hike will be on the Five Oaks Trail, the remainder will be on the fire road.

After a break at the top, we will reverse course and take the fire road all the way down to the bottom. Dogs (on leash) are permitted. This hike may not be suitable for kids. There are porta-potties at the trailhead, but no water.

I'm rating this hike as moderate-difficult. There is elevation gain of approximately 1,200 feet. Altitude at the peak is 5,248 feet. Please self-evaluate your fitness and hiking levels before attempting this hike.

"Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go." - Joshua 1:9.

Following the hike, we will head to Julian to enjoy some apple pie. (We have to pass through Julian anyway, so we might as well stop for pie).

More information on the hike can be found here.
