One of the ways God has revealed Himself to us is through His Word. IF our personal God IMAGE is ever going to reach it's maximum potential, we must develop it according to God's Word.
This is the wonderful second week at the new Rock home and today is a great message about our relationship with our Creator.
Pastor Miles reminded us that God's Word renews our minds and cleanses our spirits. And we have to put His Word first if we are going to reach that maximum potential while bling just fades away. God's Word is the key.
I stands for Individual Personality
The Word ignites your individuality.
God has given us a key in the Word for us to use to unlock our uniqueness. God has a special plan, a wonderful purpose for each of us, but we have to unlock and open the door for it to happen.
In Genesis 12:1 God spoke to Abram (not Abraham yet). Get out of your country, From your family and from your father's house, to a land that I will show you.
God's Words to Abram required faith in this man to up and leave and go to a destination to be named later. The Words where the key and Abram had to open the door to start his journey.
Miles talked about this new building and his journey to build it was started by God's Word to him and at the time when God told Miles that his church would be built on NTC it was still the Navel Training Center.
What has God told you to do in your life that lead you in a direction that you never would have considered but was practically miraculous? What did you not do when God spoke to you?
M stands for the Moral Mirror
Faith in the Word (or Key) will frame your moral mirror.
The moral mirror is what we see in ourselves, not the wrinkles we have but who we are, what we believe in, and more importantly what we do. The frame that the Word puts on your mirror holds our moral self to what is right and what is wrong.
Anything outside of the frame is immoral.
Miles pointed out that it is also important to realize that as we change so does our moral frame. He gave the funny example of a 2 year old child running around naked after a bath verse a 22 year old doing it. Obviously the moral frame is not in place at 2 years of age.
A stands for Authority to Rule
Last week Miles talked about how God gave us the domination over all the land and all the animals (Genesis 1:28-30) but never did God give us authority over each other.
The Word establishes the boundaries of our authority much like the Word established the frame on our moral mirror. As God continues to talk to Abram in Genesis 12:3 He says I will bless those who bless you. And I will curse him who curses you: And in all the families of the earth shall be blessed.
God told Abram that He, not Abram, will deal with those that curse Abram but that if Abram does what the Word tells him to do '...the families of the earth shall be blessed.
God has given us various roles; husband, wife, parent, counselor, etc And in each of those roles we have authority but we have to keep in mind that true authority is given to God. A husband is to be the head of his household but he is to create an environment for his wife and children to flourish in, not to be overbearing and dictorial.
G stands for God's friend
Obeying the Word opens the door to a friendship. Again Genesis 12:3 He says I will bless those who bless you. And I will curse him who curses you: And in all the families of the earth shall be blessed.
There is another message in here that points out if we do what the Word says (blessings) we will be blessed. However if we curse those that are doing the Word we will be cursed.
Being cursed by people that don't know you is usually not a big deal. Being cursed by an employer can be serious. Being cursed by the Creator of the universe? Not good.
If we heed to the Word then we develop a friendship with God.
E stands for the Eternal Spirit
Trusting the Word secures God's eternal blessing.
If we observe the Word and act on it we will be blessed and isn't that something we all should strive for?
