For all our family and friends here in San Diego, we are back to Purple Tier. Most of you are wondering what that means for us as a church. Please know that the Rock Church IS essential, and while we may be limited on how we gather, we are still gathering.
We want to continue to honor the guidelines and restrictions that have been put in place by our officials to keep everyone safe. While we can look at following the restrictions many different ways, we have chosen to submit to our governing authority and believe that God will honor our faithfulness. Romans 12:1-2 says, “Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God. Therefore whoever resists the authority resists the ordinance of God, and those who resist will bring judgment on themselves.”
We feel the responsibility to ensure your safety, we also carry the weight of making sure we are all growing in our relationship with the Lord. So we are choosing to be obedient and to respond with a heart of submission.
While we don’t foresee meeting indoors until next year, be encouraged we will meet indoors again. Once we are back in the Red Tier we are only allowed to open our doors to 100 people - for the Rock, this simply is not good stewardship. We will wait to open our doors until it is in the best interest for all - for you, for the staff, as well as stewarding the finances that it takes to open our doors. We do have your best interest in mind - we know COVID fatigue is real and we all need the hope that is only found in Jesus.
We are still having our Sunday Outdoor Gatherings, Youth Gatherings, prayer walks and groups - all outdoors. Get plugged in, stay plugged in and know that you are loved, that you are missed and that we look forward to seeing you outside at one of our gatherings soon. We don't anticipate this changing in 2020, our next udpate will be sent out early January.
During this Thanksgiving season, take the time to discover what you are thankful for, share it with someone else and change your mindset... Even in the midst of a pandemic, there is still much to be grateful for.
We are personally thankful for you, Rock family! We are so grateful for your continued faithfulness in this season. Ministry is happening in our homes, online and in the community. You truly are a Do Something Church and your heart for God and others makes a difference!
Below are a few resources to keep you encouraged, plugged in and updated on what is happening at Rock Church.
Every year in November, we challenge our church to be ALL IN. God has given Rock Church an extraordinary vision to build His Kingdom throughout San Diego and beyond for generations to come, and He wants to use all of us to accomplish this. Hear our vision for 2021 and beyond and see how you can support that through your ALL IN offering here.
Toys for Joy is in our 24th year and with the current COVID restrictions in place we are hosting a drive through event to serve over 4,000 families and 16,000 people by partnering with local schools and agencies. You can support Toys for Joy by volunteering, donating, or sponsoring the event. Visit sdrock.com/toys for more info.
Our campus Facebook Groups just launched and this is a great way to connect with your campus, ministry leaders, and friends, all while meeting new people and staying up to date with Rock Church. Be sure to join your campus group and share this with your friends.
We pray that you have been able to take this time to deepen your relationship with Christ and find peace and hope in the midst of uncertainty. Community among believers is critical, no matter how that happens, whether online, outside, or eventually in buildings. May you be strengthened and encouraged as you seek the Lord individually and with others.
