Kintsugi is the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with gold, resulting in a piece that is not only mended but even more beautiful than before.
It is a powerful illustration that brokenness is a reality, but brokenness isn’t the end of the story.
Join us Easter weekend as we celebrate the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus - the one who takes the shattered pieces of our broken lives and binds them up with his grace.
There is no Easter without Good Friday. Here, we contemplate Jesus' crucifixion, the moment in which "he was pierced for our transgressions" and "he was crushed for our iniquities" (Isaiah 53:5). He took our brokenness and bore the weight of it on the cross, declaring finally that "it is finished." We will be gathering at all campuses on Good Friday to take communion, pray together, and remember that we can lay our brokenness at the feet of the cross.
*Chula Vista will meet at the Point Loma Campus on Good Friday*
We are excited to be hosting an Easter service on Saturday, April 8th! First, families are invited to join us for our community Easter egg hunt at 3pm (prior to the service). Then, we will celebrate Easter a day early with our 4pm Easter service! Rock Kids will be meeting, as well!
If you are an active member of the Rock Church family, we encourage you to attend on Saturday to make more room for first-time guests on Sunday. For more details about the Easter egg hunt, click here.
*For other egg hunt opportunities, keep scrolling and click on your campus!*
*Oahu will meet at 10am only*
Easter is the day that we celebrate Jesus' resurrection. This isn't just an event that happened 2,000 years ago. It is the moment that Jesus changed history, and it impacts our lives today.
Why? Because when we surrender to Jesus, we are exchanging our brokenness for something beautiful. Isaiah 61:3 captures this sentiment beautifully: God gives us a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair.
