Mother Miguel Mountain Sunset Hike

Join us as we visit Mother Miguel Mountain in Chula Vista! It will be a fun time of hiking, fellowship and worship as we enjoy the beauty of God's creation! We'll meet at 5 p.m. and the hike starts at 5:15 p.m.

The trailhead is in the middle of a neighborhood. Park on Paseo Veracruz and the trailhead is at the corner of Paseo Veracruz and Paseo Los Gatos. Additional parking is available at the adjacent Mt. San Miguel Park.

Bring a headlamp or flashlight as it will get dark on the way down.

This is a moderate+ hike, with an elevation gain of 1,040 feet. Please self-evaluate your hiking and fitness levels before attempting this journey.

You are welcome to go at your own pace, it will be your responsibility to complete the journey if you fall behind the group. Please self-evaluate your hiking and fitness levels before attempting this journey.

You must sign the Rock Church waiver form to participate in this hike. Forms will be available at the event.

What to Expect

•  If you take SR-125 to the hike, toll will be collected at the Mt. Miguel Rd. exit (exit 9)
•  Difficulty: Moderate+
•  Highlight: Great westerly views, American and POW Flags at the summit
•  Distance: 4.4 miles (round trip)
•  Elevation Gain: 1,040 feet
•  Hiking Time: approximately 2.5 hours
•  Dogs (on leash)
•  Weather: Hike may be cancelled for extreme weather
•  Restrooms: Available at the adjacent Mt. San Miguel Park, 1/4th mile from trailhead

 What to Bring

• Good running or hiking shoes
• Comfortable clothing, bring layers as the temperature will change
• Hat or visor
• Headlamp or flashlight as it will get dark on the way back
• Hiking Poles (optional)
• Water (at least 1 liter recommended)
• Snacks
