La Jolla Coastal Meander Hike

Join us as we celebrate National Take a Hike Day (in a good way)! We'll be visiting La Jolla Shores to take on the Scripps Coastal Meander Trail. This 3-mile hike features a walk on the beach, sweeping views of the coast and a spectacular view from the Malk Sunset Overlook. Elevation gain is about 500 feet.

Park at La Jolla Shores and meet at the lifeguard tower at 2:30 p.m. Hike starts promptly at 2:45 p.m. as sunset will be at 4:45 p.m.

This hike is rated as moderate+ due to steep hills. There is an elevation gain of approximately 500 feet. Please self-evaluate your fitness and hiking levels before attempting this hike.

You are welcome to hike at your own pace. However, if you cannot keep up with the group, it will be your responsibility to complete the hike.

You must sign the Rock Church waiver form to participate in this adventure.

• Weather: Extreme weather will cancel hike.
• Restrooms: Available at La Jolla Shores

What to Bring

• Good running or hiking shoes
• Sunscreen
• Wear layers as it will cool down in late afternoon
• Hat or visor
• Hiking Poles (optional)
• Water (at least 1 liter recommended)
• Snacks
