Join us as we journey to North Fortuna Mountain in Mission Trails Regional Park for a fun time of fellowship in the heart of the San Diego City limits!

We'll be meeting in Tierrasanta for an out-and-back hike of about 4 miles with an elevation gain of 869 feet. At 1,291 feet, North Fortuna is the third tallest of Mission Trails' five peaks and features a challenging climb.

NOTE THE TRAILHEAD ADDRESS: 5198 Corte Playa Catalina, San Diego, CA 92124.
This is NOT the entrance at the end of Clairemont Mesa Blvd.

THIS HIKE IS DIFFICULT! Please self-evaluate your hiking level before attempting this hike.

You are welcome to go at your own pace, it will be your responsibility to complete the journey if you fall behind the group.

You must sign the Rock Church waiver form to participate in this hike. Forms will be available at the event.

What to Expect

  •  Difficulty: Difficult with steep inclines and loose, rocky trails
  •  Highlights: Beautiful 360-degree views
  •  Distance: 4 miles (round trip)
  •  Elevation Gain: 988'
  •  Hiking Time: approximately 3 hours
  •  Dogs (on leash) permitted
  •  Weather: Hike may be cancelled if it rains
  •  Restrooms: No restroom facilities, please plan ahead

 What to Bring

  • Good running or hiking shoes
  • Comfortable clothing, bring layers as it will cool down
  • Hat or visor
  • Hiking Poles (optional)
  • Water (at least 1.5 liters recommended)
  • Salty snacks and electrolytes
