Mission Trails Early Bird Hike

3162718f0a32696ca8a61a2b01f6519c.jpgOur first October hike takes place at Mission Trails Regional Park. We'll hike the Grasslands and Oak Canyon from the East Fortuna staging area at the end of Mast Blvd. Meet at 8 a.m. and the adventure begins at 8:15 a.m., so please arrive on time.

We'll meet at the Ranger Field Station at 14450 Equestrian Circle, San Diego, CA 92124. There is plenty of parking in two different dirt parking lots.

Please self-evaluate your hiking level before going on this hike. You are welcome to hike at your own pace. If you fall behind, it is your responsibility to complete the hike.

All participants are required to sign the Rock Church waiver of liability form.

DO NOT GO TO THE VISITOR CENTER OR THE MISSION GORGE RD. SANTEE ENTRANCE!


What to Expect

  •  Difficulty: Moderate with some hills
  •  Distance: 3-4 miles (Round trip)
  •  Elevation Gain: 500'
  •  Hiking Time: approximately 2 hours
  •  Dogs (on leash) are permitted
  •  Weather: Hike may be cancelled due to extreme weather
  • Restrooms: Restrooms are located at the Ranger Field Station and Equestrian arenas


 What to bring

  • Good running or hiking shoes
  • Comfortable clothing, bring layers as it will get warm
  • Hat or visor
  • Hiking Poles (optional)
  • Water (at least 1 liter recommended)
  • Snacks
