Oklahoma Aftermath

The EF5 tornado that hit the Moore, OK area on May 20, 2013 devastated thousands of people and left a wake of destruction over 20 miles long.  23 people lost their lives, 377 were injured, and nearly 50,000 were left homeless and heartbroken.

The nation immediately came to Oklahoma’s aid, supplying food, basic necessities, and even temporary shelter for many of those affected by the disaster. Still others came to clear away debris and even help the victims sift through the rubble in hopes of finding any remains of their possessions where their home once stood. The need was great but the response for help was amazingly overwhelming.

Just months later, the media coverage has died down and much of the nation has unintentionally “moved on” from this tragedy. Life gets busy, other news stories catch our attention, and we just shift gears to what is right in front of us. It’s all too easy to do and this is why it is so important not to forget that people are still struggling every day. Countless people don’t have a home and need temporary housing while still others need manpower to rebuild their lives. Prayerfully consider how you can help. Whether it’s praying daily for those affected, donating to an organization that is on the ground helping, or giving your own time to reach out help in Jesus name, you have a part in the rebuilding process.

The body of Christ is rising up from all over the country to come and be the hands and feet of Jesus. BWO would love to connect you with the opportunity to do the same. This spring, Believers World Outreach will partner with other local organizations to help rebuild the surrounding areas of Moore, OK.  In an effort to make this trip available to college and high school students all over the country during their spring break, we will be taking three separate tornado relief trips.  We hope you will prayerfully consider joining us in the re-building process this spring.
