Car Check List

  1. Tire pressure.  Put the tire pressure to the specifications of the tire, not what the car manual says.  If you aren't exactly sure, 32-25 psi is a good average.  The tires will get pretty hot so make sure you are well under the psi limit of the tire.
  2. Tire Tread.  Make sure you have a safe amount of tire tread left.  If you are starting to run bald, I advise you not go on the trip.
  3. Secure loose items.  There will be some G-Forces.  Make sure your spare tire and jack and other truck items are secure.
  4. Fluids.  Check all fluids: brake/clutch master cylinders, Coolant, power steering, engine oil, gas, and other fluids and liquids that make your car run smooth and correctly.
  5. Weird Noises.  Use your common sense.  If you go around a corner and you hear clicks or grinds, don't try these roads.  When you accelerate and you hear weird noises, check it out before our trip.  If you brake and there are grinds and loud squeaks, then head off to the nearest repair shop.
  6. Common Sense.  This is the most important thing to have inside the car and working at all times.
