Our Identity in Christ

by Vittoria Allen | August 14, 2017

Joanne Keyser met Jesus after she separated from her husband. Her burdens were instantly lifted, and she saw herself at the beginning of a beautiful journey. This is her story.

-----

I met Jesus as my personal Savior in November 1984 when I separated from my husband due to infidelity. He also confessed Jesus as his savior. That’s a long, long time ago. I remember how excited I was when the Holy Spirit came to live inside of me. Everything looked clearer; Burdens were lighter, and colors were more vibrant. That was my “First Love” experience with Jesus or should I say the Holy Spirit.

The beginning of my walk was beautiful but also contained sadness. My identity was in my marriage and my profession. I was successful in the eyes of the world.  But, the trials and tribulations of an unequally yoked marriage filled with infidelity began to weigh me back down. I continued to walk out my faith not knowing who I truly was.

Then in 2007, my youngest daughter died in a car accident. My world went black as I entered further into depression, pain, and suicidal thoughts. I felt like I was walking around with a little black cloud over me. I let my circumstances define who I was.

This year, God began a new work in me. He began the process of teaching me who I really am. My identity is in Christ, not in my circumstances or in whom the world defines me as. If you have accepted Jesus as your Savior, you too can join me in stating your true identity. So boldly claim these statements as your own:

I AM justified by His blood. (Rom 5:9)

I AM set free from sin and a slave to righteousness. (Rom 6:17)

I AM an heir of God and joint-heir with Jesus Christ (Rom 8:17)

I AM conformed to the likeness of His Son. (Rom 8:29)

I AM predestined, called, justified and glorified. (Rom 8:30)

I AM more than a conqueror through Him that loved me. (Rom 8:37)

I AM richly blessed. (Rom 10:12)

I AM clothed with the Lord Jesus Christ. (Rom 13:14)

I AM adopted as His daughter.  (Ephes 1:5)

I AM God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works. (Ephes 2:10)

I AM one of God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved. (Col 3:12)

I AM receiving a Kingdom that cannot be shaken. (Heb 12:28)

I AM a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a people belonging to God. (1 Peter 2:9)

I AM a child of God. (1 John 3:1)

I AM so loved by God and Jesus that they chose me to be part of His body.

I AM intertwined into the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit so that He can work through me to bless others.

I AM blessed beyond understanding with ALL spiritual blessings for ALL of eternity.

I AM redeemed, bought at a priceless cost, to forgive and be forgiven.

I AM sealed with the Holy Spirit, so He can accomplish all things in and through me.

That’s who I AM. That’s My Identity. Knowing my identity took me from darkness into light so I can walk through trials and tribulations with purpose and authority.

If you are a Child of the Most High God, that’s your identity too.  Let’s Walk In It!

Praise God from whom ALL blessings flow! AMEN!
