Lake Cuyamaca Fishing & Hiking

The hiking ministry is going on a day trip up to Julian. Please come join us for fishing or hiking. We will be meeting at mission valley, from there one group will go to Lake Cuyamaca for a day fishing trip. The other group will enjoy the beautiful mountains of Julian for a moderately strenuous hike.
Caravan or Carpool Meet Up 8:00 AM
Carpool leaves at 8:30am
Middle Peak Trail
Moderately Difficult (For intermediate and experience hikers)
Distance: 5.7 miles
Hiking Time 3 1/2 hours approximately
No Dogs Allowed
Weather: Hike will be cancel if it rains.
What to bring for hike:
-Good hiking/tennis shoes
-Comfortable clothes
-Cell phone
-Water/vitamin water & snacks.
-Sun block

-Folding chair
-Fishing rod
-Tackle or bait
-Fish license
-Sun block
-Water/vitamin water & snacks.
(Rod, bait, license can be purchase and rental at tackle shop at Lake Cuyamaca)

Lake Cuyamaca Permit Fees:
-Adult, 16 and older: $6.00
-Youth, 8 to 15: $3.50
-Child, 7 and under: Free (Must be accompanied by paying adult)
You also need a California State Fishing License if you are 16 years of age or older.
-One Day License: $14.30
-Two Day License: $22.42
-Annual License: $44.85
You can purchase the California State Fishing License at our tackle shop or you can save time by getting your license online from the state of California by clicking on the image below. Getting your license before coming to the lake will save you time, allowing you to get to fishing that much sooner!
They offer fishing rod and reel rentals. The cost is $10 for an entire day with $30 refundable cash deposit.

For Hiking; Trailhead directions: Follow Highway 79 (13.4 miles) north from interstate 8 at Descanso to reach the trailhead, on the inside of a sharp bend in the road. This trailhead is located at mile 10.7 according to the highway 79 mile markers.
