Torrey Pines State Reserve
Summer Sunset Hike
Saturday, August 24

Join the Hiking ministry family from the Rock Church for our second Saturday Sunset Hike of the summer at Torrey Pines State Natural Reserve.

Be prepared for some amazing ocean views!

The hike will start at the restrooms by the park entrance, proceeding up Torrey Pines Park Rd. to the top of the hill. There, we'll leave the road and take the Razor Point Trail to Red Butte, then proceed to the Beach Trail, making a pit stop at Yucca Point. After Yucca Point, we'll take the rest of the Beach Trail down to the ocean. We will finish by hiking on the beach back to the bathrooms by the park entrance. A beautiful sunset at 7:39 p.m. and a rising tide will highlight this portion of our adventure. Total distance is about 3 miles.

This hike is moderate. Torrey Pines Park Rd.'s uphill climb for the first .75 miles is fairly steep, before it levels off. At this point, the remainder of the hike is mostly level until proceeding downhill to the beach. There are steep steps just before reaching the beach. Please self-evaluate your fitness and hiking levels before attempting this hike. The hike is kid friendly, but may be too long. Dogs and pets are NOT permitted in Torrey Pines State Natural Reserve.

For those who wish to carpool, email Vinnie at worldbefreeman@yahoo.com. Meet at the carpool address listed below at 4:45 p.m.

More info on the Torrey Pines hike can be found here.
