Iron Mountain Sunset Hike

Join the Rock Church Hiking Ministry for an awesome sunset hike at Iron Mountain! We'll hike to the peak, worship and enjoy the 360-degree views. A beautiful sunset at 7:58 p.m. will highlight our trip back down the mountain.

Bring a flashlight or headlamp. It will get dark for the return trip.

This hike is difficult. There is a challenging uphill climb for the first 1.5 miles before it levels off for about a mile. At this point, the remainder of the hike will be uphill via switchbacks. The average time from trailhead to the top is a little over one hour. Please self-evaluate your fitness and hiking levels before attempting this hike. You are welcome to hike at your own pace, however, if you fall behind, it is your responsibility to complete the hike.

You must sign the Rock Church waiver from to participate in this hike.

What to Expect

•  Difficulty Level: Difficult
•  Highlight: An awesome sunset, if clear
•  Distance: 5.8 miles (round trip)
•  Elevation Gain/Loss: 1,530 feet
•  Hiking Time: approximately 3 hours
•  Dogs (on leash) permitted, not recommended if it's hot
•  Hike not recommended for children
•  Bathrooms are located at the trailhead

 What to bring?

• Good running or hiking shoes
• Comfortable clothing, bring layers as it will get cool
• Hat or visor
• Hiking Poles (optional, recommended)
• Water (at least 1.5 liters recommended)
• Snacks 
• Headlamp or flashlight as it will get dark
