Gospel Line Dance Ministry Meeting

We are meeting at the Point Loma Campus.

1st Floor, Room 144 (behind the community room)

After you enter the lobby, walk past the elevators and the community room, go through the double doors on your right, and walk all the way down the walkway almost to the end. Room 144 will be on your right.

Study (6:00pm-7:00pm) and line dancing (7:00pm-8:00pm).

For our next three meetings, we will study the Book of Esther (study below). During our line dancing time, we will learn easy beginner level line dances.

SESSION GOALS

MAIN IDEA: Esther’s story is a parable of our redemption through Christ.  

Head Change: To know that we’re all born into a legacy of spiritual death and we’re powerless to change it or reverse it.

Heart Change: To celebrate that, by His death and resurrection, Jesus sets us free from spiritual death and gives us eternal life.

Life Change: To surrender daily to the rescuing, transforming work of Jesus in our lives, never trusting in our own good works to save us.

REVIEW
When did you first become aware of God’s holiness and your powerlessness to save yourself from sin?

VIEW
1. What do we all have in common, spiritually, when we’re born into this world?

2. Where and when did the events of the book of the Esther take place?

3. How did Esther end up as queen?

4. Why were the Jews in the Persian Empire facing imminent genocide?

5. Why does Mordecai refuse to bow down to Haman, and what is Haman’s response to this apparent rebellion? Does King Xerxes endorse Haman’s decree?

BIBLE EXPLORATION
Read Genesis 2:15 and all of Genesis 3. What was God’s instruction to Adam regarding the trees in the Garden of Eden? Why did Adam and Eve doubt God’s wisdom in issuing this particular instruction? What was the result of their disobedience? How does that result still affect us, today? How did God show His love for Adam and Eve immediately after they had rebelled against Him (Genesis 3:15, 21)?

LAST WORD
Take a moment to let this truth settle in your soul: like the Jews of Esther’s day, who were impotent to do anything about the disaster they had coming, so we too are all born into this world burdened by a legacy of spiritual death. In our own strength, we can do nothing about it. But take heart! We serve a limitless, loving Saviour. Just as God came through for his people in Esther’s day, He comes through for us.

DEEPER WALK
Pray: Write out a crafted prayer – one you can come back to time and again to pray and re-pray – in which you acknowledge your impotence and your need for God’s rescue, praising Him for His power and faithfulness in the story of your life.
