Episode Questions
1. When Jesus began speaking about His death, how do you think the disciples felt after having given up their lives and reputations for the last 3 years? How do you think you would have felt? (John 12:23-28)
2. Jesus wept because the people of Jerusalem did not recognize it when God visited them (Luke 19:44). What do you think were some of the things that caused the people to not recognize or not believe that God was visitng Jerusalem through Jesus Christ?
3. Tamar waves for Rabbi Yussef to come and follow them into Jerusalem. What do you think causes the turmoil in his face as she beckons him to come join them?
4. Of all the disciples, Thomas, Mary, and Simon the Zealot appear to take Jesus' words of his impending beating and death the most seriously. Why do you think they see sorrow when the others are much more positive about Jesus' future?
5. When Jesus asked the Father to glorify Him, there was immediately a loud thunder. For some they heard, " I have glorified it, and will glorify it again," but for others all they heard was thunder. Why is it that some hear God, but others do not in the same situation?
6. Jesus used the image of the grain of wheat falling into the ground and dying in order to produce fruit. What does it truly mean for a person to give up their life for the cause of Christ? When is "giving up one's life," the most difficult to do?
Continuing the Conversation
The people of Jerusalem missed God's presence when Jesus visited. Is there something causing you to miss God's presence in your day-to-day life?
