Join the Hiking Ministry for a 3-mile hike at Oakoasis County Preserve in Lakeside. This is a moderate-level loop trail through a shady oasis of Live Coastal Oak Trees, with a spectacular overlook of the San Vicente Reservoir.

We’ll meet at 3:45 p.m. at the Oakoasis Trailhead. Hike starts promptly at 4 p.m. Oakoasis County Preserve is across the street from the El Capitan County Preserve. Parking is plentiful.

Please self-evaluate your fitness level before attempting this walk. You are invited to hike at your own pace, however, if you fall behind the group, it is your responsibility to complete the hike.

Participants must sign the Rock Church waiver in order to hike.

What to Expect
  • Difficulty: Moderate
  • Highlight: Beautiful views of San Vicente Reservoir
  • Distance: 3 miles (Round trip)
  • Elevation Gain: 314 feet
  • Hiking Time: approximately 2 hours
  • Dogs on leash are welcome
  • Campground amphitheater for worship
  • Weather: Hike will be cancelled for extreme weather
  • Bathrooms: Bathrooms are located at the parking lot
 What to Bring
  • Good trail shoes or hiking boots
  • Hiking poles, optional
  • Sunscreen
  • Comfortable clothing, wear layers as it will cool down
  • Hat or visor
  • Water (at least 1 liter recommended)
