About

An overnight trip to Lower Coyote Canyon in Anza Borrego. This is a moderate trail suitable for beginning drivers with aid from a spotter or experienced drivers. Stock trucks and SUV's with good ground clearance are suitable for this event.

Due to the rains this trail may be flooded or have deep water crossings and mud. The more challenging section is a long climb up a rocky set of slopes. All-Season tires are not recomended.

If possible we will plan to have worship and a bible study Saturday night and/or Sunday morning. We will aslo have a night run in the sand as the sun goes down if you have Baja lights.

This trip will require you to have your own vehicle as the participants will be carrying camping gear and possibly thier guests and space for riders can not be guaranteed, but feel free to contact us to be sure.

Ratings (A scale from 1 to 5)

Sand - 3 (it's the desert, there will be sand)

Rocks - 3 (stock 4x4 clearance will do with careful driving)

Hill Climb - 3 (this is not too steep, but rocky)

Water Crossing - 4 (One possibly deep crossing)

Scenic - 3 (4 if the wild flowers are still in bloom)

Body Damage - 1 (Don't expect shinny chrome wheels to be unscuffed)

What to equip:

Lots of drinking water, CB radio, auto tools, vehicle fluids, recovery gear, first aid kit, fire extinguisher, a safe and non leaking vehicle with no electrical or exhaust problems that can cause fires. For additional input go here.

What to bring:

Location:
We will be meeting at the XL-Co Gas Station on Palm Canyon Drive just as you make a rightfrom S22 onto Palm Canyon, its on the right side, you can miss it (see map). A caravan will be open to those wishing to do so from the CVS on E. Valley Parkway in Escondido. I will lead it and be leaving there at about 9:30am, please do not show up late without calling ahead (Troy's Cell: 619-518-5081). We will leave the XL-Co at 11:00am. If you run a little late call (the CB would work best if you are in range), you can continue down Palm Canyon past the round about and make a left on Di Giorgio Rd and take that all the way to the trail head. We will wait for a bit as we air down, pray and head out. We will be on channel 3 on the CB.

This trail run may change due to weather conditions, be sure to RSVP if you are interested. ****NEW INFO**** The trail maintenance part of this trip has been canceld. The park range has informed us it does not need to be done in April.
