TWO RIDES!!!!

20+ miles w/ 2,000' gain (shuttle)

Saturday October 18th

Arrive at 8:30, Ride at 8:45

This is the premier EPIC ride in San Diego!  We will be meeting at the bottom of the Nobel Canyon Trailhead and splitting into TWO GROUPS.  The first group is for advanced climbers who will be riding UP the trail.  The second group will be shuttling to the Kiosk when first entering Cleveland National Forest.

Please be aware the climbing section group is ONLY for Advanced climbers you know who you are.  For the shuttle section, this is an ADVANCED/STRONG INTERMEDIATE Cross Country Epic ride. We are adding extra miles with real elevation gain making this a XC ride WITH downhill. For downhillers, unless you can climb like a monkey, this ride is not for you. We are keeping the pace quick and encourage all serious XC riders to join us.  In the past a few riders with very little experience tried to join us.  Unfortunately, they eventually turned back as this was beyond their abilities.  If you are not sure of your abilities email me!  Also, please do not invite anyone unless they truly are able to do this ride.

For the people climbing, we will leave the Nobel Canyon trailhead and climb the trail.  We may split off to Indian Creek or we may continue up the trail.  It will be decided upon that day.  >From here we'll meet up with the group on the Nobel Canyon trail. The climb is VERY steep and only for hardcore, advanced climbers.

For those don't want to climb - AS MUCH, we are doing a part shuttle and part climbing. We meet at the Nobel Canyon trailhead at 8:30 sharp. YOU WILL NEED AN ADVENTURE PASS TO PARK!!! PLEASE BUY YOUR PASS BEFORE ARRIVING. Passes can be purchased at sporting goods stores, A-16 and REI.

We shuttle and park at the kiosk when entering Cleveland National Forest off Sunrise. From here we ride up a fireroad and then take awesome singletrack to the best part of the Laguna loop. Fast, swoopy singletrack with views of the ocean. Eventually, we'll either continue to the Nobel Trailhead OR we'll exit Big Laguna Campground for the Little Nobel extra credit loop.  Either way, we'll soon be on the Nobel trail for the downhill technical section meeting up with the climbers. This is where true downhill handling skills excel. The devotional will be at Indian Creek junction. Towards the bottom we continue the Cross Country theme climbing up to a saddle. From here it is a steep, technical drop back to the cars.  Much of the trail is in rocky, rutted, technical (awesome) shape.

Once again, this ride is for advanced and STRONG intermediate riders who love to climb. By picking the ride which best fits your skills, you and the other riders will be guaranteed an awesome time!
