ROCK THE CURE
Now is your chance to make a difference in your church and in your community. As we join together as a group to donate 600,000 hours of service to our community, we encourage you to join the Rock Church Mountain Bike Ministry on November 1, 2009 at the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure.
In San Diego, 1,960 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer this year. With statistics showing that a woman is diagnosed every three minutes, and one dies every thirteen minutes in the United States it is time for us to do something. The San Diego affiliate will award over $1 million this year to local non-profit organizations to help fund breast cancer research, education, screening, and most importantly patient assistant programs in San Diego.
The Mountain Bike Ministry will be volunteering our time to help race walkers and supporters in the Transportation Alley. There are two designated points where the 15,000 walkers are directed to load and unload on buses to get to the race. We will be riding our bikes through the parking lots directing participants to the loading zones, and then helping redirect the flow of traffic after the race back to the buses.
Along with helping in the loading zones we will also be cheering for all those who are walking. If you are walking please let us know so that we can support you.
To volunteer for this amazing outreach event please click on the following link and complete the Volunteer form http://www.doitsports.com/volunteer2/jobs-by-date.tcl?event_id=124426. From the volunteer options, select Parking/Shuttles. In the Group Name Field write RockMTB. Also please email us at [email protected] to let us know that you will be there to volunteer or if you are already registered to walk in the race so we can include you in our count of those from our ministry that are out doing something for our community. We will be submitting our Do Something hours after the event.
Join us Rock Members as we ROCK THE CURE this year!
