This event was started by a surfer who sustained a spinal cord injury while surfing. He found a way to return to the water and has created this non-profit to share surfing with other individuals affected by spinal cord injury.
At the event surfers are able to ride waves with the help of volunteers who transition them from the sand to their board, then through the water from shallow, mid to deep and finally into a wave. Anyone can help. Volunteers serve on a variety of tasks, set up, serving breakfast and lunch, equipment check out, land volunteers to help with beach wheelchairs, and water volunteers for shallow, mid and deep water.
