"God has given us a perfect method called Bible Proof, to know whether or not the Bible is His Word. The quantity and quality of the results are based on the level of your submission to His Word."
"Let me see your Bibles. Pens. Lesson plans."
Much can be said about the sermon this week. Every individual in the congregation was probably touched in a different way than the person sitting next to them.
1. Good things follow those who obey God. Leviticus 26:3-13
God wants only the best for his people. He wants to see us enjoy life. He wants to pour out the blessings of heaven upon us. How much we receive depends on us. God pours out His blessings on those who obey His word.
This passage actually enumerates the areas of our lives that God promises to bless in response to our obedience.
2. Bad things follow those who disobey God. Leviticus 26:14-39
Ever wonder why so many bad things are happening in our country these days? What about in your own life?
There are consequences for the good things we do as well as the bad things. When we disobey God, His favor is withdrawn - and that results in various "things" that happen in our lives.
3. Disaster comes in stages. Leviticus 26:18, 23, 27
God gives us every chance possible to obey Him.
"If you don't listen I will punish you," "If you continue to be hostile toward Me I will be hostile," "If you still don't listen to me in my anger, I will be hostile punish you for your sins seven times over."
That's serious stuff!
The challenge from Pastor Miles was to determine just 3 areas of your life that you need to start obeying God? What areas of my life do I ignore God's interventions? Is there just ONE area in my life that I can use as a first step toward complete obedience?
4. Second chances are given to those who repent. Leviticus 26:40-45
To repent is to simply turn away from the destruction that lies ahead and turn to God. He does the work!
He gave His Son to pay for our sins. All we have to do is turn from the things that make us stumble and obey God.
