In order for you to receive God's promises for you, you must be willing to take steps of faith and receive Woo miracles.
Prepare yourself for God's miracles. Those who walk with God will see WOO miracles; these kinds of miracles make people say " WOOOOO!"
As Pastor Miles pointed out this week; God is a WOO God and that should be exciting for us all as we all enjoy WOO!
Joshua, the New Leader
First let me refresh our memory as we continue in the book of Joshua. The Israelites have wandered in the desert for 40 years due to their lack of faith in God. But that time has passed and Moses' assistant Joshua is now going to lead the people into the promise land.
Joshua 3:1-5 is this new leader instructing the people to follow the ark of the covenant, but at a distance. In verse 4 he says "Do not come near it (the ark), that you may know the way by which you must go, for you have not passed this way before.
Literally the word of God, which is what the ark carries, led the people even though they had never passed this way before. And in verses Joshua 3:1-3 Joshua is instructing the people what to do and in verse 5 he says "for tomorrow the Lord will do wonders among you.
WOO miracles require preparation and expectation. And that is exactly what Joshua did for the people as he prepared them for another miracle from God. This reminds us that we have to do the daily basic things out of faith so that we too can receive God's miracles that He has planned for us.
WOO miracles glorify God, not us. So when God is doing something we have to remember to pay our proper respects to the Creator who gave us those miracles.
Joshua 3:15 says and as those who bore the ark came to the Jordan, and the feet of the priest who bore the ark dipped in the edge of the water (for the Jordan overflows all its banks during the whole time of the harvest.)
WOO! These guys were going to cross the river, not just a river but a river that was overflowing. Another WOO to glorify God and his power! We have to remember that WOO miracles require action, especially when it seems impossible.
This is God's will, God's plan and God's miracles and He can do anything and shows us this by making things seem impossible so we have to act on faith that He is in control (and he is!).
Now these WOO miracles are necessary. As with the example above there is no way someone, much less a huge crowd of Israelites could cross an overflowing Jordan river without God's help.
God is simply reminding us that we need him and should depend on him as his miracles will save us.
The Importance of Remembering Miracles
Joshua 4:3 says, and command them, saying "Take for yourselves twelve stones from here, out of the midst of the Jordan, from the place where the priests' feet stood firm. You shall carry them over with you and leave them in the lodging place where you lodge tonight."
Basically this means that 12 guys, one from each tribe, would pick up a stone (a big stone) from the bottom of the river that they were crossing and make a place to commemorate this event because WOO miracles leave physical evidence.
That way we can teach others, such as our children, about these incredible WOO miracles. But more importantly we can be reminded of these miracles in our own lives.
And what miracles have you had when you acted on faith? While you recall that think now more of what miracles you will have when you act on faith.
