God has entrusted to us time, talent, and treasures. The potential of these three resources is based on their heavenly capacity.
If we are good stewards, managing them toward reaching their full heavenly capacity, then we can enjoy the heavenly experiences He intends for us.
In one year, God give each of us 365 days, 12 months, 52 weeks, 8,760 hours, 525,600 minutes, or 31,536,000 seconds. You have over 31.5 million opportunities for your talents each year.
Chronos time is chronological, such as your life or time spent at a job; it is the total time for something.
Kairos time is a moment in time, such as when you got married, when your children were born or when you finally paid off your car loan.
You've probably heard that God knows everything about us; He has counted all the hairs on our heads (of lack of them) and He knew us in the womb. He knows everything we have done and will do. He is outside of time and knows our entire Chronos and all of our Kairos.
1. Because in heaven Chronos and Kairos times are established, we can plan accordingly.
Be very careful, then, how you live-not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. Ephesians 5:15-16 Ephesians 5:15-16
Over thirty-one million seconds are given to us every year that we may honor Him, do things to help others, and improve ourselves.
Basically, these verses tell us not to waste time. Over thirty-one million seconds are given to us every year that we may honor Him, do things to help others, and improve ourselves. We should use our time to the fullest.
Think back to time you wasted - don't you wish you had done more with it? (We all do that, so don't beat yourself up too much). God can restore the opportunities, or Kairos moments, of our lives.
2. Because in heaven Chronos and Kairos time are "now" in the eyes of God, Chronos time can be converted to Kairos time.
This means that every second we have can be a Kairos moment. Imagine a life where every moment is "wow!" God can make that possible for us.
3. Because in heaven Chronos and Kairos time are protected, we can be confident that we will finish what God has established us to do.
There is enough time for everything. What a relief! How often do you feel that you don't have enough time to get everything done? Pastor Miles encouraged us to make a "to do" list for the day and evaluate the items for importance. This way we can spend our time on things of value.
4. Because in heaven Chronos and Kairos time are final, it is time for urgency.
Time is short and it stands for no man. We don't know how much time we have to accomplish the kingdom work He has assigned to us, so we must act now. Unlike other God-given treasures we'll be discussing for the next few weeks, time is one that can't be replaced.
