God's Plan For You
Nick Vujicic - July 28, 2013

Message Recap

In this message, special guest Nick Vujicic returns to share that Gods loves us and has a plan for us, no matter what our situations are and no matter what we have done in the past.

God calls us to preach the gospel to the world.  As Nick and his wife have learned by traveling the globe, this is a very spiritually significant time in history.  Nick has just returned from Vietnam, where the controlled government had never before allowed the mention of Jesus or the gospel on television.  Nick was asked to share his message on television three times!

But leaving his beautiful wife and infant son for an extended period of time is not an easy task.  So why does he do it?   How does he continue to preach and travel on world outreach when he is tired, discouraged, or simply missing his family?   It is the same reason that drove Jesus to the cross: LOVE.

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. John 3:16

Nick briefly shared his testimony as background for his ministry.  He was born without arms or legs without any medical explanation.  The son of a pastor, Nick was constantly given the message of love, hope and a good future for his life, but the reality of childhood without arms and legs and being bullied at school left him so discouraged and depressed that he attempted suicide at age 10.  At the time, he could not have imagined that one day he would have a fantastic job, a beautiful wife and son, and the amazing fulfillment that Jesus would bring to his life.  But what the enemy attempts to use for bad, God uses for good.

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. Jeremiah 29:11

If you are looking for purpose, whom better to ask than the One who made you?  God has a hope and a future for you, but in order to receive it, you must believe by faith and take hold of it!

If you are looking for purpose, whom better to ask than the One who made you?  God has a hope and a future for you, but in order to receive it, you must believe by faith and take hold of it!

Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock.  Matthew 7:24-25

We are all born in a state of brokenness (Romans 6:23) and will one day experience earthly death. More important than arms or legs, family or no family, wealth or poverty, is our eternal condition.  Nothing can secure our eternity except Jesus!  If we can be secure in the knowledge that we will spend eternity praising God’s name in heaven with no more sin, war, hunger, pain, or slavery, we can focus our earthly life on that which matters most – sharing God’s love with others.  Otherwise, it is as though we have build our whole earthly lives creating an incredible mansion on the sandy shore, only to see it washed away by the tide.   Jesus is the only One who has ever claimed to be God, defeated the devil, led a sinless life to be able to pay the debt of sin for us, and rose from the grave; He is the only Rock on which we can build a firm foundation for our lives.

At age 15, Nick read John 9:1-12 in which Jesus encounters a man born blind.  Jesus gives only one reason for the man’s physical condition: “that the works of God should be revealed in him (v. 3).”  By faith, the blind man allows Jesus, a stranger, to apply mud to his eyes, which causes him to see for the first time.  Nick realized that if God had allowed this man to be born blind that others could witness this glorious moment, then God could have a plan for him as well.  In humility, He asked Jesus to come into his life, give him faith, and forgive his sin.

The journey of life with Christ from this point always comes back to the two greatest commandments: to LOVE God with all your mind, heart, soul, and strength, and to LOVE your neighbor as yourself.

Nick gave this metaphor to explain the measure of love.  If your daughter received a speeding ticket but repented and felt responsible, would you love her enough to pay for the ticket?  Would you pay for your friend’s speeding ticket or allow him to pay for it himself?  What about a stranger?  Would you be willing to take on the life sentence of a prisoner so that s/he could go free?

Jesus went way beyond the payment of a citation or the serving of a jail sentence. He loved each of us so intimately and passionately that he gave his very life for us.

Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends. John 15:13

People need to hear this message of love and hope – that Jesus died for them personally out of His great love for them.  Nick’s blossoming ministry has seen thousands receive the gospel message all over the world and all over the internet, but all of this didn’t happen until he was faithful to share the gospel with his very community and invite his close neighbors to come to church.

Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal. And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing.  1 Corinthians 13:1-2

Each day is a new opportunity to love God and love your neighbors so that more and more can come to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.  So whom is God asking you to love today?
