It doesn’t matter how good or bad things currently are – the rest of your life can be the best of your life!
It’s easy to get caught up in the trials and turbulence of the world, but Jesus offers us the greatest encouragement in John 16:33:
“These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”
When we know Jesus and abide in Him, the trials and stress we experience in life do not have to have a hold on us.
When we know Jesus and abide in Him, the trials and stress we experience in life do not have to have a hold on us. We can still have peace and confidence. We can “be of good cheer” because Jesus has deprived the world of his power over us; He has conquered it!
God picked out a life just for you – it’s unique to you and only yours to live. But you have to unwrap your life and enjoy it as you would a gift! Unwrapping that gift means making intentional decisions. It’s a decision to be of good cheer. It’s a decision to enjoy your life.
Yesterday is over and tomorrow has not yet arrived, so all we have is today. So how will you make the most of today?
1. Make a decision to enjoy life.
Whatever you are facing today, you can still decide to fully live and rejoice.
This is the day the Lord has made;
We will rejoice and be glad in it. Psalm 118:24
2. Make a decision to seek Godly wisdom.
Have you ever said, “If only I had known then what I know now…”? That knowledge that could have helped you is wisdom.
Get wisdom, get understanding; do not forget my words or turn away from them. Do not forsake wisdom, and she will protect you; love her, and she will watch over you. The beginning of wisdom is this: Get wisdom. Though it cost all you have, get understanding. Cherish her, and she will exalt you; embrace her, and she will honor you. She will give you a garland to grace your head and present you with a glorious crown.” Proverbs 4:5-9
You can get wisdom:
- from making mistakes
- by learning from the mistakes of others (mentorship)
- by buying it and studying it (the Bible and books)
Don’t be a know-it-all; be a learn-it-all. From study, you can learn in a few hours the lessons that others have taken a lifetime to gather.
Blessed are those who find wisdom, those who gain understanding, for she is more profitable than silver and yields better returns than gold. Proverbs 3:13-14
3) Make a decision to expect more of God’s favor in your life.
God cares about the details of our lives – He says He knows the number of hairs on our heads! Recognize the blessing that He gives you every day. Whatever you recognize, you become thankful for. Whatever you’re thankful for increases in your life. No matter where you are, God’s favor brings you to the top. (Just look at Joseph, who rose from prison to palace in one day! – Genesis 41)
Make an investment in your life. Discover your purpose, make decisions that honor God and help you to grow. Be blessed so that you can be a blessing to others.
