Mind Your Business - Part 3, Creation Business
Miles McPherson - August 19, 2018

Message Recap

Every one of the thoughts that you have impacts every single one of the 37 trillion cells in your body. By the way, we have about 60,000 thoughts a day. They impact your heart rate, your muscles, your respiratory system, etc. Your thoughts can create health or sickness in your body.

Pastor Miles talks about how your thoughts can create a life that you don’t want, or a life that you want, more specifically, a brain that can be about your Father’s business. Today we talk about how your mind can create a brain that can process your Father’s business. If your brain is not structured to process your Father’s business you’re going to have more of a spiritual battle going on in your desire to obey God.

It’s important to declare God’s truth out loud; you create additional pathways (in your brain) that reinforce that truth.

Ask yourself, am I going to submit to the mind of Christ or to the cravings of my body? Your physical brain is going to be impacted by your mind.

Facts About Your Brain:

  • -Brain is 3.2 pounds
  • -Born with 100 billion neurons = stars in the Milky Way Galaxy
  • -A fetus grows 250,000 neurons per minute
  • -80% water, soft butter/tofu
  • -Uses 20% oxygyn and calories
  • -400 miles of capillaries
  • -500 trillion connections
  • -1 grain of sand size brain matter has 100k neurons and one billion connections

Neurons that fire together wire together. Pastor Miles gives the illustration of a basketball player practicing free throw shots. Through practice, the neurons fire to make his body work in relation to make the free throw. With of all the repeated practice, he created a pathway in his brain. So when game time comes, he doesn’t have to think about what to do, his brain already knows what to do.

The devil is going to try to rewire your brain to reject God’s word and His promises in your life.

He then uses the example of being a child walking in the house everyday, and everyday hearing his father say, “Go to your room. Get out of here.” Then, a pathway was created in his brain that reminds him he doesn’t want to go home. And then gives him bad feelings about his father. And himself. And it’s wired into his brain. Then he walks into church and hears the pastor say, “God loves you.” But he has a pathway that says, “No, no, father is bad. My pathway says otherwise.”

The devil is going to try to rewire your brain to reject God’s word and His promises in your life. That’s why you have to rewire your brain and not assume that what’s in your head is truth. What you see and intake is not necessarily the truth of God; it’s just the truth of your experience. But if you let that truth be your foundational truth, and not the truth of God, you’re not standing on the Rock, you’re standing on your experiences. Then your brain is going to be directed by your thoughts and experiences and not the promises of God for your life. This is a decision you have to make. Your brain needs to be rewired.

1. Our brain is wired for “yes.”

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things. The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you. Philippians 4:6-9

For as he thinks in his heart, so is he.
“Eat and drink!” he says to you,
But his heart is not with you.
Proverbs 23:7

2. We have been given the “yes mind” of Christ.

For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us. 2 Corinthians 1:20

For “who has known the mind of the Lord that he may Instruct Him?” But we have the mind of Christ. 1 Corinthians 2:16

3. A “yes mind” can create a “yes brain.”

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your [b]reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. Romans 12:1-2

4. We must choose to create a “yes mind.”

I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live. Deuteronomy 30:19

You want to have a mind like Christ? You have to practice. Over and over. Read your Bible. It’s up to you. You have to choose. Renew your mind and restructure your brain. Not only will you have life for you, but your descendants as well.

Mind Your Business

This 4-part series teaches how to leverage the power of our minds so we can be about our Father’s business. In Part 3, Pastor Miles explains how your mind can create a brain that processes God’s business and how your physical brain changes by your thoughts.
