It has been well documented that men suffer after an abortion. Their feelings may be different from a woman - and the way they express their guilt/grief/discomfort may be different, too. Most men try to "suck it up" and get on with their lives - but the abortion still has a hold on them, and unless or until it is faced, those unresolved issues can infiltrate and destroy their relationships - and their self-image. Here are some of the things that come up consistently when talking to men about their abortion experience(s): excessive anger, anxiety, panic attacks, mood swings, low self esteem, helplessness, worrying, sadness, depression, confusion, guilt, fear (of failure), attention deficit, promiscuity, impotence, lack of trust, insomnia, nightmares, isolation, avoidance, risk taking, substance abuse, suicidal thoughts, and violence.
With God's help, men can come to terms with what they've done - or what was done without their consent/knowledge - and can have their lives restored and renewed. Silent Voices is now offering a Bible Study for men who have participated in an abortion. For more information call Cliff Elledge - 619-261-4702
