In a Crowded Restaurant

by Dave Franco | November 25, 2011

My friend Teri and I were out to dinner. I noticed a couple come in. They were seated a few tables away. As Teri and I were talking, I heard this still small voice say, "Get up and go and pray with that man." I brushed it off. Again, I hear the voice say, "Get up and go and pray with him." I thought, "Lord this is a very crowded restaurant and he'll think I'm crazy." For the third time the Lord said, "Get up. Go. Pray with that man." Finally, I looked at Teri and said, "Teri, God has told me now three times to pray with that man over there." She said, "If God told you to go, then go and I will go with you."

We went to him and I said, "Sir, I'm sorry to bother you and I hope you won't think I'm crazy but God has told me three times to get up and pray with you." He looked at me with tears in his eyes and he said, "I have been praying that God would send me an angel or sign that He has heard my prayers." He began to cry and tell me how sick he was and that he was to undergo surgery soon and that they didn't know if he would make it. He also said that his mother was very ill as well and they didn't think she would last much longer. I prayed right there, crowded restaurant and all. The woman at the table began to cry too (she was his sister). I prayed for him, his mother, and their entire family. I gave him my business card. He said, "God heard my prayers, God bless you, Charlene."

Six months later, Teri and I were at a crowded benefit dinner. Teri looked at me and said, "Isn't that the guy you prayed with?" It was Julian. He looked amazing. I gave him a big hug. "Charlene, thank you for giving me hope. God healed me and life is good," he said. He was so excited to introduce me to his mom. She hugged me and thanked me and said, "God Bless you."

To say I was in awe is an understatement. I am so blessed that God used me to show them that He is faithful. All I could do was cry. Suddenly I remembered Pastor Miles had recently said, "Ask someone if you can pray for them. If they say yes, start praying for them right then and there." I did and look how God moved.
