Interview with Marc Millan - Point Loma Campus Worship Leader

by Dave Franco

Where are you from?

Born and raised in The Bronx, New York parents from Puerto Rico = NewYorican.

Are you married? Have a family?

Married to Clara and we have two incredible kids, Charlize and Lucas

Did you ever have dreams about becoming a big star?

Yes, then I woke up broke. Actually, being a star and being a worship leader are complete opposite paths. One desires attention, the other deflects attention towards Jesus. I'm a deflector for sure.

When did you know you wanted to be a worship leader/pastor?

When I realized working outside of church didn’t compare to my volunteer time at my church. I just knew there was no other place I belonged.

What do you hope you can lead people to do when you’re behind the mic?

See God for the Holy, perfect, loving God that he actually is.

How has your view of worship changed over the years?

It used to be about music and arrangements. Now it’s about reflection and surrender.

What do you miss most about the Bronx?

Pizza by the slice and graffiti.
