Rock Hero: Jonmichael Berry - April 2013

by Rock Church | April 29, 2013

In 1992, Jonmichael Berry was talking with a woman who asserted that the truth about Adam and Eve was that Eve was created first. Jonmichael didn’t know much about the Bible, but that didn’t seem right to him. He began to search the scriptures to find the truth. It started an interest in the Bible that led him to attend church.

When he visited the Rock, Jonmichaeal jumped at the chance to receive Christ. The next day, he shared Jesus with everyone at work.

Says Jonmichael, “People are lost without Jesus. I feel the need to tell them they don’t have to spend an eternity apart from God.”

One day, he suddenly felt God was calling him to step into a bigger role than merely going to church on Sundays and chatting up his work friends. Searching the Rock website, he saw an ad for the Evangelism Ministry. He joined immediately. Soon he was with the team evangelizing on the streets. He loved every minute of it.

Hundreds of people have made decisions for Christ through the work of Jonmichael and the Rock’s Ambassadors for Christ Evangelism team.

Months later, Jonmichael took over the ministry's leadership. He immediately changed the ministry name and took a new, bold approach to the ministry’s model. The result is that the ministry has grown in number and they’ve evangelized at events such the Gay Pride Parade, Earth Day, the Ocean Beach Chili Cook Off, Cinco de Mayo at Old Town, ComiCon and Toys for Joy, as well as being regulars in the Gaslamp Quarter.

Hundreds of people have made decisions for Christ through the work of Jonmichael and the Rock’s Ambassadors for Christ Evangelism team. When asked if he can foresee a time when he might stop and look for another ministry to give his time to, he responds, “I’ll be doing this until the day I die. There are lost souls out there, and it brings me such joy to lead them to an eternity with their Savior.”

Congratulations, Jonmichael Berry, Rock Hero April 2013
