Rock Hero: Monique Whitney - January 2013

by Dave Franco | January 23, 2013

It’s been proven that long before a visitor to a church ever steps inside the sanctuary, they begin determining if they will ever come back.

However, when visitors to the Rock are greeted by Monique Whitney, the deal tends to be sealed.

For 6 years, Monique has been one of the primary greeters at the Rock Church and is one of our most recognized faces. Monique mans the Info Desk and with her lovely smile and gracious way, she tends to everyone’s needs. There isn’t a person who she helps that doesn’t feel warmly welcomed and deeply cared for.

Before coming to the Rock, Monique traveled 46 weeks a year for her job. When she resigned, she just wanted a place to call home. She thought joining the Rock’s hospitality ministry might be an easy way to start putting down roots. She loved it so much, she never left.

Says Tom Dahl, the Rock’s Hospitality Coordinator, ”God certainly knew what He was doing when He brought us Monique. Her affect on people cannot be overstated.”

But as dedicated as Monique is to greeting people, she is just as dedicated to what happens behind the scenes—arriving at 6 am to open doors, power up the electronics, prepare bulletins and set up ministry booths.

Says Julie Duke, former Hospitality Coordinator, “The Rock has the three pieces to a successful church service: great teaching, awesome worship…and Monique.”

Congratulations, Monique Whitney, Rock Hero - January 2013
