Since Saturday November 23, 2013, members of The Rock Church have joined together to pray for the expansion planned for “The Rock” in the Southbay area.
At the first prayer meeting, thirteen people joined met at the South West corner of the Otay Ranch Mall and bowed their heads in prayer asking the Lord to bless the growth of The Rock Church. The opening day is not set in stone but is expected in early 2014 at the Mater Dei High School on Birch and Hwy 125.
This is a much anticipated location. “I have been making the drive to Point Loma for years” says Victoria, Rock Church member and Chula Vista resident. “It’s all right” she continues, “because you know you are going to be fed.” Although she enjoys “The Rock” at its current location, she is excited that she will be able to attend a venue closer to where she lives. This will make it more feasible for those, like Victoria, to reach out to their South Bay community.
The South Bay is the ideal location for “The Rock” as Chula Vista is the second largest city in the San Diego Metropolitan area. “There is a lot of love in this community” expresses Rena.
“We want God to do something special here” says Art who has spearheaded the logistics for the new venue. "The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few (Mark 9:38)” states Michael, prayer group organizer.
By workers, he means more congregants who can make this new location not just a reality, but a huge success. Workers who can “turn people to Jesus Christ” he affirms. In order to make this happen, Michael requests a Saturday morning prayer walk at the proposed location.
This group meets at the South West corner of the Otay Ranch Mall. All Rock Church members are welcome and called to join in prayer to help make The Rock Church stronger so we can point others to Jesus.
