Baptism

Declare your faith in Christ.
About

Your Declaration of Faith

Baptism is a public statement that we have chosen to fully embrace faith in Jesus Christ and to follow him on the road of discipleship. It is an outward expression of an inward change! It signifies our death to sin, our burial of our old life, and the resurrection of walking in the newness of life in Christ Jesus.

Your First Step

Make a Decision to Follow Christ

Have you made a decision to allow Christ to be your Lord and Savior? Because baptism is a public display of faith in Jesus rather than an act of salvation, people who participate in baptism must begin by committing their lives to Jesus. If you would like to learn more about the story of Jesus, please click the button below.
Before you Decide

Posture Your Heart

Are you willing to follow Him as your Lord the rest of your life? Baptism is more than just a momentary act. It is a decision to follow Jesus wholeheartedly. Because of this, we strongly encourage those who are not actively seeking to live a life pleasing to God to pursue a lifestyle before they are baptized. If you would like any clarification or counsel regarding these matters, please contact the church office.
For Families

A Note on Kids and Baptism

Because baptism is not an act of salvation but instead a proclamation of one's faith in Jesus, we ask that people who participate in baptism are old enough to reasonably make a decision for Christ. If you have questions or desire additional support as you support your child during this important moment in their faith journey, please email kids@sdrock.com.

For children who are not yet old enough to articulate their faith, we encourage child dedications. Child dedication is for parents who want to publicly declare their intention to raise their children to KNOW God, GROW in God, and SHOW God to others.
