Gentle Stretch & Strength – This is an all fitness levels/women only opportunity to receive physically and spiritually. Gentle Stretch & Strength is a safe, effective and Christ-centered alternative to yoga, bringing together structural alignment, core activation and muscular work with God’s word and prayer. As a tapestry of gentle movements and progressive stretching positions, this is an experience of surrendering heart, soul, mind and body. Expect a well-cued & supportive process that warms, deeply moves, strengthens and stretches the body’s muscles. Stillness and relaxation techniques are incorporated throughout each session to heighten the practice of a physical and mental quietness, even when the positions may challenge your body. Bible verses and Spirit-filled prayer are spoken to make this a special time for reflection, relationship and learning. “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”… Matt.11:28
Gentle Strength, Restorative Stretch - an exercise class incorporating core muscle focus, body weight as resistance and deep warming/stretching in muscle groups well used by popular lifestyles such as sitting, running, cycling. This class begins with a challenge to the cardiorespiratory system, joints and mindset. After the warmup, strengthening series build fiber and endurance by using the body's weight as resistance (very effective). Alignment, form and posture are integrated with a core musculature focus in the strengthening portion and the stretching. Restorative stretch techniques are used to heighten body awareness, bring stillness to the heart and mind, experience range of motion and breathing capacities.
Mat Pilates - Whatever your level of fitness, Pilates can change your body by improving posture, strengthening concentration and coordination, building stamina in core muscles, toning target areas and bringing relaxation to stressed ligaments through structural alignment and breathing. This is a fundamental mind and body training, inspired by slow, controlled and flowing movements performed with thoughtful awareness. Mat Pilates is effective in weight loss, strength training and many other improvement goals. Expect to gain a deeper understanding of the body by studying and working in a series of postural alignment positions as well as efficient breathing and core stability techniques. Progression comes with practice and diligence so be sure to include this special class in your weekly exercise regime. What to bring – exercise mat, water, a small towel/blanket and a long flexibility strap (optional). Note: Pilates is wonderful for back-related problems yet may not be suitable for use during pregnancy after 20 weeks.
