This is an intermediate ASL class being offered by the Deaf Ministry at the Rock Church. This course will be 6 weeks, from February 26th - April 1st, Sundays 2-3:30pm. The location will be in room # 224.
*The last class will be at one of our Deaf Lunch Fellowships at 11:30am - 2pm. The restaurant will be Five Guys Burgers and Fries at 2445 Truxton Road, San Diego, CA 92106*
- Know your alphabet in sign
- Simple phrases, such as How are you?, Nice to meet you, Thank you, Please, My name is, etc.
- Male/Female Words, such as Mother, Father, Cousin, Grandmother, Grandfather, Man, Woman, etc.
- Christian Words
If you feel that you know most or all of these words above, and IF you feel ready to step up to the conversational level, then you are ready for this class. If you forgot some or a lot of these words (but you know that you learned them before), then don't worry, we will review the vocabulary in the first class. The structure after the first week will become more of a conversational/casual atmosphere, where you will learn to communicate with deaf people and among yourselves.
*Note: There are no interpreters in class.*
IF you don't feel like you're quite ready for this level, there will be a beginner's course in the fall (September - October).
Please e-mail Jessica to reserve a spot in the class as the numbers will be limited.
