The copywriter position will be responsible to write clear and concise content for a variety of media channels. The ideal candidate is an artist with words, able to relay a lot of information in a small space. This is a fast-paced work environment with daily writing deadlines, so being able to work quickly and accurately is key. Plan to submit three writing samples that highlight your best work.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Research the technical properties of products.
  • Determine what makes ministries and the church appealing.
  • Develop unique and new concepts.
  • Conceive, develop and produce effective advertising campaigns.
  • Create and present storyboards of ideas.
  • Work with art directors to create ideas.
  • Write clear and persuasive copy for websites, brochures, ads, and other means of advertising.
  • Update digital media with timely content.
  • Perform search engine optimization techniques.
  • Oversee campaigns from production to completion.
  • Revise, edit, and proofread content as needed or directed by client.
  • Respond to feedback in a timely manner.
  • Work within tight deadlines.
  • Check copy for spelling and grammar errors.
  • Explore different ideas and concepts for both the visual and verbal elements in tandem with the creative team.
  • Write press releases advertising new products.

Job-related Qualifications:

Education, Training, and Experience

  • A Bachelors degree in any of the following fields English, Journalism, Marketing, Advertising or writing.
  • 2 or more years of experience as a copywriter or writer for a company or church is required.

  Organizational and Spiritual Requirements:

  • Demonstrate Christ-centered behavior at all times by treating people with dignity, respect, compassion and integrity.
  • Utilize the principles of Matthew 18 and Ephesians 4:15 to resolve differences of opinion with others.
  • Successful completion of a thorough pre-employment references and background checks, which includes: social security verification, Local, State & Federal criminal conviction records search, national security database, and sex offender registry.
  • Attendance at all mandatory meetings and events.  This includes serving at Good Friday, Easter and Christmas services as well as the annual volunteer appreciation event.
  • Member of the Rock Church (or willing to transfer membership to the Rock Church).
  • Regular involvement in Rock Church activities, ministries and events.
  • Tithe 10% to the Rock Church.
  • Signed acknowledgment of the Rock’s Statement of Faith.
  • Ability to interpret and adhere to the Rock’s policies, procedures and employee handbook.
  • Be self-motivated and goal oriented, use good judgment, and be flexible and innovative.
  • Professional attitude and demeanor.

Physical Requirements:
