Grace, Mercy & Miracles - Nick Vujicic
Nick Vujicic - February 27, 2011

Message Recap

This week, we welcomed Nick Vujicic as a guest speaker. Nick was born without arms or legs and has faced many challenges in his life, but God has empowered him to move from a "Life Without Limbs" to a "life without limits."

Nick's passion for the Lord has inspired him to begin a ministry, traveling the globe to share the good news of Jesus. (For more information on Nick's ministry, visit

Everyone experiences times of happiness and sorrow, sowing and reaping, clarity and confusion. We may not know or understand one another's pain, but God understands. He loves you and has plans for you, and He is never too early or too late. No matter what you are experiencing spiritually at the moment, Scripture can help you remember who God is, what He has done, and how you can have a life filled with love joy & peace.

As a child, Nick felt great despair in not having arms or legs. He felt God had forgotten him and there was no hope for him. Maybe you have something looming over your life-something you feel you must have in order to be happy. Maybe you do good and have many blessings in your life, but yet are lacking truth and peace in answering the questions, "Who am I?" and "Why am I here?" We can chase the life stages that we feel will give us happiness, but that chase will continue forever, because true joy is not based on our circumstances. Having a dynamic relationship with the living God is what fulfills us.

What is the entirety of all the "benefits" you get when you come to the Lord Jesus?

Bless the Lord, O my soul;
And all that is within me, bless His holy name!
Bless the Lord, O my soul,
And forget not all His benefits:
Who forgives all your iniquities,
    Who heals all your diseases,
Who redeems your life from destruction,
Who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies,
Who satisfies your mouth with good things,
So that your youth is renewed like the eagle's.
Psalm 103:1-5

The Real Battle

The real battles being waged are not over flesh and blood, but about angels and demons fighting for your soul. The devil doesn't care whether or not you have legs and arms. He doesn't care whether or not you have cancer. All he cares about is taking your joy and peace and binding you up inside. But we don't have to be afraid, for God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. 2 Timothy 1:7

The enemy intends our earthly struggles for bad, to bring us to despair and remove our hope, but God can turn all of these things for good and use them for his glory. (See Romans 8:28) Nick shared that he thought it would be best for God to give him arms and legs, but now he can truly thank God that His will is being done. We must pray as Jesus teaches us (Matthew 26:39) - to make our requests known, but also fully embrace God's will in His wisdom.

If you can't get a miracle, you can still become a miracle.

Nick declares that although he has no arms or legs, he is lacking nothing (James 1:2-4). God is with him and he has the forgiveness of his sins. The truth of his value is not determined by how the world sees him. Nor does the world define your value.

God made us for royalty. We are daughters and sons of the King. The truth of God's feelings toward you is found in Psalm 139. Read it and believe! You are not a mistake, but wonderfully and fearfully made. His precious thoughts toward you are more than all the grains of sand.

As Jesus explains in John 9:1-3, a man was born blind not for his sin, but that the works of God should be revealed in him. If God had a plan for that man, He has a plan for you! Whatever your earthly struggles, physical, mental, or emotional, God can use them to reveal Himself to someone else and to bring glory. When your clouds don't part, you can still carry someone else through theirs. As Nick says, the only thing better than going to heaven right now is bringing someone along with us. And if God can use a man with no arms or legs to be His hands and feet, then God can use you, too.

Turn the Corner

At age ten, Nick tried to commit suicide because he felt there was no hope. Praise the Lord he did not die then, because look at him now, traveling and sharing hope with the world! You don't know what's around the corner until you go around the corner. You don't know what God can do with your broken pieces until you give them to Him. He will do something beautiful and give you strength one day at a time.

Overcome FEAR (False Evidence Appearing Real) with FAITH (Full Assurance In The Heart.) Move forward and let God move in you. He loves you just as you are, and not only does He was to heal your current hurts and help you with your struggles, He wants His incredible will to come to fruition in your life.

Verses for Encouragement

Nick shared many of his favorite verses in this message, and we encourage you to look them up. Read them, meditate on them, and embed them in your heart.
